Behaviour of stud-to-sheathing fastener connections in LSF walls at elevated temperatures

چکیده
Light-gauge steel framed (LSF) walls used in low- and mid-rise buildings are usually sheathed with gypsum plasterboard to protect the thin-walled studs fire. The structural failures of these fire mostly associated local in-plane shear or pull-through at their stud-to-gypsum sheathing screw fastener connections. reductions mechanical properties cold-formed elevated temperatures significantly reduce strength stiffness provided by stud-to-sheathing connections, which may lead premature failure LSF wall studs. Many detailed studies available on ambient temperature response however, both out-of-plane responses connections limited. Cyclic Behavior of Cold-Formed Steel Stud-to-Sheathing Connections
This series of experiments aims to characterize the cyclic behavior of cold-formed steel (CFS) stud-to-sheathing connections. This connection provides the key energy dissipating behavior in wood sheathed CFS shear walls, and provides bracing to the studs under gravity and out-of-plane loads. A simple testing rig is developed consisting of two CFS lipped channels facing toe-to-toe connected on t...
متن کاملDesign of Cold-Formed Steel Screw Connections with Gypsum Sheathing at Ambient and Elevated Temperatures
Abstract: Load-bearing cold-formed steel (CFS) walls sheathed with double layers of gypsum plasterboard on both sides have demonstrated good fire resistance and attracted increasing interest for use in mid-rise CFS structures. As the main connection method, screw connections between CFS and gypsum sheathing play an important role in both the structural design and fire resistance of this wall sy...
متن کاملNumerical analysis of the influence of fastener disposition on the behaviour of timber-framed walls with wood-based sheathing boards
This paper provides numerical analysis of the influence of fastener disposition on the behaviour of timber-framed walls, coated with single wood-based sheathing boards fastened to a timber frame. As the walls under a horizontal load actually behave like a deep composite beam, the disposition of the fasteners is very important and directly influences the bearing capacity, as well as the stiffnes...
متن کاملBracing Stiffness and Strength in Sheathed Cold-formed Steel Stud Walls
The objective of this paper is to provide the stiffness and strength characteristics for coldformed steel stud walls stabilized by sheathing. The primary stability resistance is provided by translational (lateral) stiffness supplied at the fastener locations to the cold-formed steel studs. This paper separates the source of this translational stiffness into two parts: local and diaphragm. To an...
متن کاملTHE DEFORMATION BEHAVIOR OF AZ31 MAGNESIUM ALLOY AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES
AZ31 magnesium alloy is considered as a promising alloy in various applications and industries. Furthermore, to design a proper hot working process (rolling, forging and extrusion), the assessment of hot working behaviour of the alloy is necessary. Accordingly, the hot deformation behaviour of AZ31 alloy was studied through hot compression testing method This was carried out in a wide range of ...
